A new website's been launched that uses photo, video, and digital stories to show disproportionate access to healthy food, physical activity, and tobacco prevention along income and color lines in King County (Washington). The new site, MOVE (Mapping Our Voices for Equity), features an online map to graphically illustrate and promote health equity there.
They have a story use plan featured prominently. Also, MOVE has a series of videos on Vimeo that were created for policy change.
One of the groups we're working with and learning from, Creative Narrations, is a partner with MOVE and was instrumental in creating this new media tool.
This is the kind of thing we'd like to do, too. It's a good idea-generator for me.

ReplyDeleteDoes staff see value in having a story map on Prevention Speaks? Creating a story map for a specific community as a product? Teaching communities how to do this as a training?

ReplyDeleteHow hard is it to add mixed media to a google map? I can see the value in utilizing this for Farm to School as well. Integrating stories and pictures to the maps where kits have been distributed would be useful for education and showing the movement's growth.
