Today Tom, Sarah, and I finished the first year of our "Chronic Disease Policy Advisory Group"! Over the course of the year, we've been building capacity and buy-in for policy work across the state's chronic disease programs. We've had tons of surprises and learning along the way (who knew we would end up here?!). There is much work yet to be done to reform the group for the landscape ahead, but we've defined our success in terms of engagement and readiness... both of which are progressing!
- Overall the majority (78-100%) agree the meetings were valuable uses of their time, useful to integrate both tobacco and nutrition, and the format was effective for achieving the meeting objectives.
- Satisfaction with the workshop format and time for discussion grew over the course of the project.
Our evaluators for the project are Sara Busarow and Robin Lecoanet from the UW Population Health Institute. Today they presented their initial results and will be completing their final report following the evaluation of today's meeting. We're wrestling with some really fun questions like: How to balance evidence-base and political feasibility, where is integration helpful or not, what policy analysis processes and products are most helpful to public health decision-making, what leadership role is most needed for the prevention movement?
This is the group written in CTG as the leadership team, so I'll update you when we get the full report. Is there anything else you'd like to know?

@Julie My biggest tips for photos are 1) use a fancy camera that does all the work for you (!) and 2) take hundreds of photos and a couple are bound to be great!
ReplyDeleteThe evaluation stats in this post are from surveys we've done following each meeting... though the eval plan also includes focus groups and a series of informant interviews.

ReplyDelete@Carrie The evaluation is still underway as we aggregate the results of Meeting #5 and finish up with key information interviews... I'd guess it will be done by the end of the year. I'll post a link to the full report when it's complete.
