Check out this awesome TED talk: "Artfully visualizing our humanity" by Aaron Koblin. He shows how he uses computer user interfaces to tell stories. He uses open Web standards, including HTML5 and JavaScript, to create stunning and engaging representations of data as narrative devices. It's an 18-minute must-watch!
This is awesome. The storytelling potential seems SO POWERFUL by web interfaces significantly elevating user interactivity over novel and cinema.

@Kyle: Koblin's work focuses on telling stories based on socially and personally relevant data. Nothing's more relevant in those respects than health. I don't yet know about the "how", but the "if" is clearly "yes!"
ReplyDelete@Sarah: YES. There's huge potential for improved engagement when the presentation is tailored to the audience. We have the technology (JavaScript, HTML5 video, Geolocation), I can't wait to work on the implementation!
