The Annoying "Latest Version" Prompt in Google Docs

Every time you open a doc that was created with the original version of Google Docs, there's a big ugly yellow prompt asking if you want to convert your document to the latest version of the editor. This is a strategy to transition users away from the original version to the new version. In addition to the pushy annoyance, it's a big deal because the old version has very important features that the new version doesn't -- and will never -- have.

I hope that Google will fix this soon, but for the meantime, I created a UserScript for Firefox and Chrome that dismisses this prompt automatically. It simulates actually clicking on the "Dismiss" link instead of just hiding the prompt. This is important because it tells Google that you are intentionally deciding not to convert the document, and thus showing your support for the original version. Google appears to be gathering statistics on this, because data is sent to Google upon clicking "Dismiss".

You can install the script by going here and clicking "Install" in the upper-right corner.

Firefox users will need to install the GreaseMonkey extension first.
