Hi Everybody! You might remember that we're building a mentoring relationship with the CPPW community of Ringgold County, Iowa. After visiting in-person earlier this month, Chris and I decided to try video chatting to keep the relationship alive from long distance. The plan is to conduct video story coaching with individual members of their coalition in advance of upcoming public meeting.Lesson Learned: Make sure to set aside time for a "practice" before scheduling a first appointment via video chat.
It took us about 20 minutes to troubleshoot various technical issues, so we were glad we took the time to run-through. First, we tried to use Skype, but his microphone wasn't working. Then we shifted to gChat and his video wasn't working! To solve that we tried to use the browser Firefox instead of IE, and making sure Skype was closed before initiating the call. It worked! Now we know how to do it for next time. It also was a great opportunity to give Chris a tour of the office and meet a few other staff.
