Most of us whose job descriptions include website responsibilities know about SEO, but we don't always make it a priority with all the other tasks clamoring for attention. The class, offered by the Small Business Development Center, was a perfect example of this: 25 out of 29 people attending had not done much of anything about SEO for their website. My favorite thing from the class was the idea that you do not have to optimize every single page of your website, and in fact you shouldn't--it's unnecessary.
What a simple idea! But it makes all the difference to me in creating and maintaining a manageable gateway to making Prevention Speaks more easily found in a Google search.
Now the trick is to discover our best key word searches...it's probably not "storytelling" as that shows up with 8,000,000 page results!
Glad we're getting some SEO!
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting...what are some ways to optimize?
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering - now that Google has integrated social media to its results, does SEO get trumped by content that is either geolocated or socially connected to the reader? Is our social media strategy now also a SEO strategy?
