Type of Projector Makes a Difference
Nancy and I decided to test all three WCH projector models and see if the type of projector made a difference. We have four small Dell projectors (about 2500 lumens), four medium ones (about 3000 lumens), and a brand new one that's more powerful and meant for large spaces (4300 lumens).
Predictably, on the small projector "skin disease" was prevalent. On the medium, much less so, but still not pretty. On the large, everything was beautiful.
How to Fix the Problem
Nancy tested settings. It turns out you can cure "skin disease" on the small and medium projectors. You just have to dive into the projector settings, but—it also depends on what you are going to show:
- a video
- a PowerPoint
- a combination of the two
Go to the display menu, and under the video option choose movie for best results showing videos. Play your video, and if you still are not satisfied with how it looks, go back to the display menu and adjust the contrast setting.
PowerPoint
At the display menu under the video option choose PC if you are going to show a PowerPoint only. Your PowerPoint will be crisp with high contrast.
Combination
Stay with the setting for video, but you'll probably want to pay a little more attention to adjusting the contrast and color settings to make your PowerPoint less dull.
If you need to start over, try using the "auto" setting and starting from there.
This is really helpful - thanks for taking the time to investigate!
ReplyDeleteYea!!! Thanks for finding the cure!
ReplyDeleteI don't use the projectors, but I love that you had an experiment to figure it out!
