ARRA Successes!

Hey Team! We had a huge ARRA (obesity) success today that Sarah and I have been working on for more than a year. Wisconsin's Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity (NPAO) program articulated a focused list of policy priorities to its coalitions and partners across the state!

Embracing a policy approach and a narrowing focus to only a few goals are two huge benchmarks on the continuum of policy readiness. This may sound simple, but it has been a ton of difficult behind-the-scenes work through our policy strategy and technical assistance contract with NPAO.

If you're interested, the webinar is archived here. (For you story fans, I did use the opportunity to share a few quotes from Wisconsin obesity advocates who have embraced policy work... and Christy appears several times with her Farm-to-School kit in hand!)

A second success is... although they will be publishing a 100-page state plan online (jeesh)... they approached us about including a video success story for each category (childcare, schools, healthcare, worksites, community) as a communication strategy for the plan. The acknowledgement of story among this NPAO team is also no small potatoes.

  1. woo hoo! Thinking that this can also be labeled a success for the chronic disease policy advisory group. I did appreciate the local quotes in the Prezi!
