Update on CTG Grant Application

Hi all

Just a quick note to update everyone on the events related to several grant opportunities moving foward, but particularly the Community Transformation Grant we discussed at Tuesdays staff meeting

Today, the Clearinghouse was formally asked to be the "lead" applicant for the State. Additional applications will come from Milwaukee County Health Department (for Milwaukee Co) and Great Lake Inter Tribal Council (capacity building grant). In order to not complete with Milwaukee, our application will cover the State, minus Milwaukee Co.

We have targeted July 1 as our deadline to complete the grant writing process. (Hmm, yes Julie, I feel a sudden vacation coming on!).

What this all means, and how it will work, is yet to be determined. The grant writing team will meet again at 2 PM on Thursday the 17th -- so while you are all packing up and heading out of town, at least a few of us will be hunkering down for a working session! (Yes, sympathy and pity, is appreciated).

On other fronts, thanks to the lovely and talented Amy Meinen, we were able to be at the table in discussing leadership strategies for an Obesity Prevention System in Wisconsin (yes, a very sexy title, indeed). There is the potential that Amy and Dale, via WIPOD may make the LOI deadline for a Partnership Planning grant -- although the deadline is Friday and nothing is yet written. I heard a rumor today, that they are re-thinking whether that is realistic.

The Letter of Intent for building statewide capacity and leadership around preventing risky and problem drinking is moving forward. Message testing/polling (Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids style), a comprehensive website (like Tobwis), and a localized "burden of alcohol" report are the key parts of the Alcohol LOI.

The timeline for many of these opportunities is fast, and ever-changing. Thanks for your patience as we move forward. I may not see many of you prior to the conference, so good luck with everything!

Please don't hesitate to post or ask any questions you might have. Not sure if I, or who will have the answer, but will try to keep everyone in the loop.

Peace,
Carrie
