Ideas for the Prevention Conference
Spokesperson training- you could sign up for a 30 minute one on one coaching session that included being videotaped. ( Note I did talk to one person who said it would have been helpful to have a longer session with more practice and then follow it up with one on one coaching)
Dinner with Wood and Lacrosse
We ate at Seasons 52 a new restaurant with fun healthy food, all plates are less than 500 calories. My favorite part was dessert in a shot glass.
Facilitated two story sessions
Suzanne shared story as a sytem ( 50 people)
Alan and I did Tools you can Use ( 40 people)
Both sessions were well received: lots of comments and questions, stories were shared during and after, participants came up after wards to thank us. (Both Ogilvy and Berkley Media Studies are interested in our work)
Prevention Conference Idea #2 Open Space
CDC took a number of risks at this meeting. There were peer to peer discussions, lots of networking time and a 90 minute Open Space session with topics from participants and complete choice as to what you talked about and for how long.
The Low Points
Probably the biggest disappointment ( at least for me) we worked hard to help our partner communities submit their stories at CDC's request...and they were played on a screen in the far back of the lobby with no sound..while ads were given top billing and shown during a large group session.
Thanks for sharing Julie.
ReplyDeleteDid you bring some shot glass desserts back as souvenirs for us? :)
