She had me at 'Hello, I'm a Storyteller'

Novelist Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice -- and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding.

She talks about how a single story can flatten the experiences of people and places.  She says 'The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete.  They make one story become the only story.'  

This inspired me anew, realizing that not only are we sharing 'success stories' we are telling more complete stories.  No longer is the story of horrible school lunches the only story.  Breaking down stereotypes is a difficult task, thank you all for the work that you do.  Sometimes its easy to forget that what we do really is cool, and something to be proud of!
