Healthy People 2020

FYI Healthy People 2020 is available on line.

Three things I looked at:

1. Health Communications: and was disappointed that it seems focused on individual behavior change and provider/patient communication.

2. Social Determinants of Health: glad to see it is there, objectives yet to be developed. Seemed to be language similar to RWJ.

3. Educational and Community Health Programs

There is language about changing environment and a link to Charting the Future of Community Health Promotion
Which had two recommendations we might be interested in:
#3. Support training and capacity building ( including: advocacy, policy development, development of partnerships, and use of new communication technologies.)
#4. Promote a state-of-the-art e-mechanism to share expertise and knowledge about community health promotion

Key elements of this Web-based platform would include data, communication tools, evidence-based research, training, and a forum for communities to contribute and share knowledge.
